Division Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position in the research group of Prof. Takehiko Kitamori, Prof. Chihchen Chen and Prof. Kyojiro Morikawa, at National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. The group works closely with the University of Tokyo, Lund University, and international&domestic industry companies, providing a stimulating environment with expertise in micro/nanofluidics, glass chip design & fabrication, analytical chemistry with ultra-small volume. We established the “Daicel-NTHU Joint Research Center” in 2021, for developing large-scale integrated microfluidic/MEMS technology. The first application is “desktop chemical plant”, which is anticipated to contribute to next-generation i) high-performance chemicals for the semiconductor and biomedical industries, ii) green chemistry, and iii) sustainable development goals (SDGs). This project is an international university-industry collaboration, including the Japanese company Daicel, and Taiwan local companies, providing a stimulating environment with expertise in micro/nanofluidics, glass chip design & fabrication, microsensors, and actuators. More information can be found at the following link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGSTFkwQTnM&t=2s Duties An applicant can choose the research topic(s) using a broad range of micro/nanofluidic techniques, including chip fabrication, surface modification, fluid control in micro/nanochannels, reaction chemistry in micro/nanochannels, sensing of flow, temperature and pressure, control systems for flow, temperature and pressure, systemization of these technologies. We develop the desktop-sized microfluidic chemical plant. The postdoctoral researcher will provide an opportunity to learn and master a broad range of advanced methods and to participate in international&domestic collaborations with partners of diverse disciplines. Qualifications An applicant must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate. The term for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for two years or longer. Expertise in the field of microfabrication and microfluidics is required. Knowledge of analytical chemistry, reaction chemistry, and simulation are advantages. An ability to perform independently is important, however, the project is heavily integrated into other projects, and thus an ability to contribute as part of a team is required. Good English oral and writing skills are a must. Location: Hsinchu, possible short-term research activities in Tokyo. Application process An application must contain the following documents in English: A complete curriculum vitae, including date of the thesis defense, title of the thesis, previous and current academic positions, and academic distinctions A complete list of publications A summary of current work (no more than one page) A brief letter explaining your research interest and background experience that makes you suitable for the position Indicate a potential starting date A Recommendation letter Names and contacts of two referees. The application is to be submitted to kitamori@mx.nthu.edu.tw with the email title “postdoctoral applicant – your name”.
